May 10 8:30am-4:30pm New Wineskins For A New Day — Spring meeting of the Connecticut Conference of the United Church of Christ, held at South Congregational Church, corner of Main and Pleasant Streets, Middletown.  Volunteers needed.  Just show up and say you want to volunteer.  Click here for more details.
May 10 Noon-5:00pm Feet to the Fire Festival at Veterans Park — an Eco-Arts Festival for the whole family, featuring artists, musicians, theater, dance, exhibits on climate change, eco-friendly food vendors, scavenger hunt, nature walk.  This is a collaborative program by Wesleyan’s Center for the Arts and the Jonah Center for Earth and Art.  Admission free. Annual Meeting of the Congregation.  The agenda includes a discussion of a resolution whether to post a banner outside the church building saying “First Church Says Torture Is Wrong” and the proposed “Safe Church” Policy.  A light lunch will be served before the meeting is called to order.

May 20 7:00pm Meeting of the Jonah Center for Earth and Art.  Updates on what’s happening in our community.  All members of the public and representatives from other environmental advocacy organizations are invited to attend. (Memorial Room)
May 29 1:00pm Tenth Annual “Naming” Memorial Service at the Cemetery of Connecticut Valley Hospital, where nearly 1700 patients who died from 1878 until 1955 were buried in numbered graves.  Location: Silvermine Road, on the campus of CVH.
June 8 10:00am Worship led by our Church School and Youth; Teacher Recognition; all followed by an All-Church Picnic in the parking lot. Bring a salad or dessert to share! 
June 8 5:00pm First Church serves the meal at St. Vincent de Paul Place.  Come join us! 
June 10   Second Annual Silver Lake Golf Tournament at Lyman Golf Course in Middlefield.  See www.ctucc.org for more information.
June 15 11:30am David Oliveria’s Electric Truck Conversion.  Dave will explain how he converted a pickup truck to run on electricity, and why.
June 22 11:30am Michelangelo’s Later Work – A slideshow and talk by art historian Rhea Higgins.
June 29 - July 6 Our second Mission Trip to H.O.M.E. Co-op in Orland, Maine.  Approximate cost of trip is $300. 
July During the month of July, all Sunday morning services will be held at South Congregational Church, 9 Pleasant St. on the South Green, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
July 20 - 25 Middletown’s “Faith in Action” Week of Caring.  Youth and Adults are invited to spend a day or all week contributing to local charitable sites such as St. Vincent de Paul Place and “You’ve Got a Friend” Youth Center.  Contact Sue Latourette for more details.
